THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Your Tekvest saved our Daughter's life! Without question, she would have had severe internal injuries, the doctor said a ruptured spleen
or lacerated liver at the very least. Instead, she was treated for severly bruised abdominal muscles, bruised, swollen knees, split chin and facial abrasions from her helmet's chin strap.
It happened in our U.P. of Michigan, on 22nd February 2008. It was a perfect day! 20 degrees, sunny, perfectly groomed trails, lots of snow, unbelievable scenery, heavy snow hanging on the pine trees- HEAVEN ON EARTH!
We were 60 miles into what was to be a 160 mile loop on our State Trails. We left the Motel in Newberry and rode in formation - My husband Jeff in the lead, then 20 year old son Shawn; 21 year old Hilton, E.Z. also 21, Wenger 21, our beautiful daughter, Kayla, 18; Robbie 20 (Hilton's Fiance) and me - Sharon (50).
As we zipped along on the freshly groomed trails, I was just praising God and thanking him for the perfect weather, beautiful trails and massive amounts of snow. I knew that Robbi and E.Z. were equally amazed at the beauty of it all especially since it was their first time riding in the U.P. (We're all from Middleville, MI - South of the bridge, way south - the land of bumpy trails, little snow)
We were about 3 miles south of Lake Superior and Rainbow Lodge, cruising on the State Trail across a clear cut area. There was a steep hill next to the trail - (we had checked it out the week before). Jeff rode to the top and stopped - he wanted to watch us cruise down the trail. Shawn did the same, and stopped alongside his dad. Hilton remained on the trail. As we drew closer, Jeff and Shawn went down the backside of the hill and merged onto the trail. I was the last in our line and I watched E.Z., then Joe, Kayla and Robbi zipp off the trail and up over top the hill.
As I came down the trail, past the hill, I expected them to merge in front of me - one at a time. When I looked back, I saw 4 people on the ground and sled parts every where! Kayla was clutching her stomach, chin bleeding, trying to catch her breath.
What happened was E.Z. got way too much unexpected "air" and came down kind of sideways, as his sled rolled down the hill, parts flying everywhere, he tucked and rolled off his sled. Joe flew over and landed on E.Z's sled and parts and managed to avoid hitting E.Z. - Kayla was up in the air - thinking she could do a Blair Morgan, but saw there was 2 sleds and 2 guys on the ground and said she "just closed her eyes as her Saber Cat nose dived!" She hit HARD, splitting her chin on the windshield and chest on the steering column. She fell off and her sled continued on for about 200 feet until it came to a stop. Robbi came over the top and managed to jump clear of her sled, as it somehow avoided hitting anything or anyone!
As we surveyed the damage and checked everyone and thanking God no-one was killed - we were just STUNNED!
Up until then, my husband and I had rode 30 years without incident. A few years ago we were up at Nelson's summer snow cross event in Greenville. We stopped at your Tekvest Booth and checked out "Jumpin Jason's" mangled Tekvest. (We had watched the Sno Cross race where the other sled landed on him). My husband had us all get fitted for Tekvest by one of your nice Reps, and he bought 4 of them as Christmas presents for us and our kids. Everytime Kayla put hers on she would say "I hate this thing, why do I have to wear it? It makes me look fat!" We replied "There's NO debate. You don't ride in a car with out a seat belt and you don't ride a sled wihout your helmet and TEKVEST!"
And now, years later - your TEKVEST saved her life! E.Z., Hilton and Robbi are now believers and before they ride again, are getting TEKVESTS.
As for Joe,we told his Mom - buy him a TEKVEST for Christmas, it's the best gift you could give him! Joe's chest and jaw and neck was real sore, but his TEKVEST saved him from MAJOR injury, also.
We will promote your TEKVEST for the rest of our lives, to all our fellow snowmobilers! We always encouraged all of our son's friends to get one and now they and we have the living proof - she's called "KAYLA JOY GORDON" she's our baby girl and she's still around because of TEKVEST!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH
P.S. That Friday night as Kayla was in the recliner, ice bags to her knees, bandages on her face, nursing her sore stomach, she looked at me and said "I LOVE MY TEKVEST!"
