POWER TOURING GEAR
Steve Brand has come up with another winner. Last winter, the brain
behind Tekrider and Tekvest introduced “Power Touring Gear:
(PTG), a bases-loaded-home-run of a snowmobile suit. Snow Goer Canada
gave this snazzy-looking black, grey and orange gear a tough workout
and passed it with flying colours.
The seal-seamed PTG is waterproof, windproof and breathable. It’s
specially designed to accommodate a Tekvest underneath (but can
comfortably be worn without – not recommended!) Rider-friendly
details and functionality include padded (and articulated) knees
and shins protect from rider-forward bumps against the hood. The
PTG jacket is cut long to prevent lower back drafts. The best pant
seat in the industry keeps your butt bone dry. The entire suit is
lined with super-quick drying, space age material that sucks moisture
away from inside faster than you can say “PTG”. All
zippers sport the state of the art, waterproof rubberizing, with
pulls for easy use with gloves and tiny “zipper garages”
that shut out uncomfortable drafts. We also love the large zipped,
right-thigh pocket, ideal for your wallet. A built-in sleeve houses
sled registration, proof of insurance and other important papers.
Warm up your PTG by zipping in the attractive insulator vest and
closing its multitude of fasteners and vents. Cool off by undoing
your arm, chest, pit and back vents, lowering the front zipper (holding
the jacket together by its dome fasteners), and unzipping pant legs
from either the top or bottom. Presto – PTG is its own air
conditioner!
PTG is so good that possible upgrades will only be fine-tuning:
perhaps including a less gigantic inner jacket pocket and a higher,
snugger fitting collar. It’s a premium priced suit for active,
hard-riding wearers – and acts as the outer layer of a fully
integrated, technical layering system. It’s not one of those
insulation-loaded products targeted for casual cruising at 40 below
or for wearing over blue jeans and a cotton turtleneck. However,
for serious snowmobilers who want to look great, be ultra-comfortable
and own a durable, lightweight suit that will wear as hard as they
ride, an investment in Power Touring Gear is just the ticket. Thanks
Steve.
